Drilling for water …

Just before Christmas we received a message from Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe where they explained that they were walking 3 km to fetch clean water as the school borehole had run dry.

They never ask for anything but we knew that we had money in our Katiyo account and we knew we had to help. We asked them to go ahead and get some quotes for drilling a new borehole.

There is surveying work that needs to be done then a 40 metre deep borehole will need to be drilled. We will be installing a 5000 litre tank and a solar powered pump, and we expect the work to cost about £5500 to £6000.

We hope to transfer the money as soon as possible with the work starting as soon as it can.

We will keep you posted!

We are also paying for vegetables and beans to supplement the school meals programme and ensure all the children receive at least one decent meal a day. These are some of the children who benefit.
